Biography
Natalia Locilento is an Italian soprano based in the United States currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at Oberlin Conservatory, where she actively performs in operatic, concert, and choral settings. She is drawn to storytelling through both classical and contemporary vocal music, where she engages audiences with expressive clarity and stylistic versatility. Her passion for both classical and contemporary repertoire has led her to perform a diverse range of roles and collaborate with esteemed ensembles and composers.

Recent operatic pursuits include Jeannette in Joseph Bologne’s L’amant anonyme for the Oberlin Opera Theater and her upcoming portrayal of Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro for the Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival. In 2025, she appeared in multiple opera scenes, including Adele from Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and Barbarina from Le Nozze di Figaro for the Oberlin Conservatory Opera Scenes Program, as well as Poppea from Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea for Bel Canto in Tuscany. Earlier ensemble opportunities include singing the role of Serviteur in Massenet’s Cendrillon for Oberlin Opera Theater and joining the ensemble of the concert version of Rhiannon Giddens’ Omar with Oberlin Conservatory. Her work across new and historical repertoire reflects a growing interest in exploring different musical languages and performance styles.
Most recently Natalia expanded her artistic practice into stage direction, joining the Oberlin Opera Theater productions of John Musto’s Later the Same Evening and Bastianello as Assistant Director for Scott Skiba, collaborating closely with the composer and gaining experience in the creative process behind operatic production.
Natalia has also been featured as a soprano soloist in the world premiere of Matthew Brown’s Because a Poet Sang with The Now Chorale, showing her enthusiasm for new music and collaborative creation. Her choral engagements include singing Handel’s Messiah with Oberlin Conservatory and serving as a chorister and cantor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin, Ohio.



In recognition of her vocal talent, Natalia received the First Place Prize in the 2023 NATS Massachusetts and Rhode Island Competition. She continues to refine her musicianship through studying with Mathilda Edge, Caroline Smith, and Ellen Allen, who support both her performance and emerging directorial interests.
